Welcome home big homie! We missed you dawg! All of Huntsville has been patiently awaiting your return.  I would be remiss if I didn’t take time out to let the world know that the essence of Huntsvegas hip hop is spelled B.I.G. P.O.P.E.  While you were gone, I laboriously fast forwarded and skipped tracks on my old SouthPaw mixtape and any other record that I could steal from Shey just to partake in your genius.  Its good to have you home. Shout out to Khao! I introduced myself to Khao one afternoon as he and his business partner dined in my restaurant. From the very beginning, I knew it was critical for Mook to get in the studio with Khao.  That’s all Shey and I talked about. Khao is a native son. Khao is a  multi-platinum selling artist. Khao knocked the doors of the industry down right out of Montgomery. Khao was the Alabama Invasion!  At that moment, I had to make it happen. I gave him the best elevator pitch I had ever given in my life along with a copy of Just Got the Pack In.  He listened and inspected my goods with careful ears and eyes. He was impressed enough that he gave me his contact information.  After multiple discussions, we were finally able to nail down some studio time with the most prolific producer ever spawned from the state of Alabama. After dropping Just Got the Pack In, the streets were buzzing about this kid from Huntsville.  Mook was hand picked to do the Trap Money remix on Gucci’s recently released album Murder Was the Case.  Check it out.

This mixtape formally introduced Mook to the ATL

Just Got the Pack In hit the streets in the late spring of 2009.  It was a long time coming.  After dropping Bang or Slang almost a year earlier, the team kinda went into hibernation.  I was busy opening a new restaurant in Atlanta; Shey was promoting an artist at our sister label; Mook’s girlfriend was expecting; and the once cohesive camps in Hunstville found themselves going in different directions.  Without a stable place to record, Mook was in between Atlanta and Huntsville every weekend.  One person kept us focused on making music–my man Zaytoven! Each weekend, Mook and Zay tirelessly cut record after record after record.  Zay was convinced that Mook brought another element to the “Zay-town sound.” Zay was influential in securing DJ Holiday for the mixtape.  Zay knew that we needed a real street DJ to introduce Mook to the ATL.  Holiday was that man.  After going hard in the streets with over 10,000 copies, people began whispering.  Check out the mixtape below at datpiff.com.

Bang or Slang hit the streets in the early Summer of 2008.  Shey Jennings and I introduced Mook to super producer Zaytoven a few months earlier. Zay took an immediate liking to Mooks raw talent. Mook was ecstatic to venture out of Huntsville and work with the man that helped create the popularity of Gucci Mane. This was my second mixtape.  Couldn’t convince a DJ to host it, so again I did it myself. Did it all from front to back.  My alter ego, Mr. ESQ, was beginning to enjoy this.
